hidden camera

Watch this video I took of Drew when he thought I wasn’t watching (it was after he demanded “Mama go cook”, meaning leave me alone Mama).  There is some excess video on the end that is boring, so ignore that part.  As my sister Lori says, Drew gets attached to the funniest songs.

lately

It’s been pretty busy around here.  I went back to work full time last week, which I think has been really good for me.  We don’t get out too much, but it still feels like we are super busy.

Drew is up to his normal behavior.

Sleeping in the hall.

He also started school again at Utah State.  He gets to go twice a week for two hours each class.  It’s been really good for him and he seems to enjoy it quite a bit.

Hank has been doing the normal baby stuff.  (and some extras).

Has been smiling a lot more (especially at Mama and Daddy)

And a few dr appointments and lab draws here and there.

He is only on one medication now and we are starting to get used to the oxygen, though I really don’t like it.  He meets with his pulmonologist and eye doctor this week, fun times.

We have a lot of visits from our cousins, which we love.

We have finally mastered the double stroller method and seems to work really well for our boys.

We also got to go see great friend (and one of Hank’s nurses) finish the Top of Utah Marathon.  We were excited for Lisa and so happy to see her.

Back to our normal routine, and we are happy about it.

Survival

Well, I survived being home by myself with two kids.  Surprising to me.  My kids survived too!  Probably surprising to everyone else.

Hank’s new favorite things.

Hand’s in the mouth.  Constantly.    He has also figured out how to suck on his bottom lip and will do that when he can’t find his hands.

He likes to hang onto toys and will occasionally get them to his mouth also.

He loves to lay on the floor and has been working very hard at rolling over for the past week.  He had success yesterday, much to his dismay and threw a fit afterwards.

halfway there

He successfully pulls his cannula out all the time and sucks on that too!  Delicious.  (Cute face though).

As far as his “other stuff”.  We have been able to wean him some on his oxygen, but very slow.  Since no one wants to manage his oxygen (pediatrician, cardiology), we are being referred to a pulmonologist.  That’s okay with me though.  Can’t hurt.

We have cut down on his medications considerably.  Instead of giving him drugs 6 times during the day, we are down to two times.  His only medications are his diuretic (which he is growing out of) and his sodium chloride, which we are trying to stop.  He sure loves that salt (not really) and when we give it to him, he spits and gags himself while throwing a fit for about 10 minutes.   I don’t think we will grow out of that.   Joyful.

Now Drew.

Drew has started getting busy again.  He just got back from a fun vacation up to our cabin with cousins and grandma and grandpa (I’m jealous).  He gets to start school up at USU Development Lab next week.  I think he will love it.  (At least he did last year).

He is sure getting big fast.  He likes to trick mom and dad at bedtime and thinks if he sleeps on the floor he can sneak around a lot more and stay awake.  Funny boy.  I often hear him right next to his door whispering who knows what when he should be in bed.

Here is a first for Drew.  The other day, he drew this picture and proceeded to tell me it was daddy.  This is his first picture he has actually done of a person.  Looks like daddy to me.  When he drew it, he said “Daddy, eyes, and nose… a big one.”  Smart little kid.

See, things are getting back to normal around here.
