a few things to remember

Last Saturday, Steve and I took the boys for a day trip down to Salt Lake.  We started the day off at an event for Intermountain Healing Hearts called the Heart Hero 5K and Jr. Superhero Dash.  We all registered, but really, only Steve and Drew were really in for the long haul.  I walked the loop once, Steve actually ran the whole thing.

Finished with a stroller filled with 2 kids (yes Hank is in there), an oxygen tank, a pulse ox, a diaper bag (not sure why he had that), plus the stroller had 2 flat tires.  He did a good job.

I waited at the end to take pictures.  After the 5K, Drew ran the race for the kids and he had a great time.

We will try to go again next year.

After, we rushed home to meet Drew’s cousin Matt at a parade close to home.  The boys had a great time at the parade, and collected lots of candy.

Unfortunately, Matt had to go home and we miss him a lot.  We will be excited to see him this summer.

picnic

We had a picnic at the park today with my mom, Matt, and Matt’s Grandma and Grandpa Steed.  The weather wasn’t awesome, but it was warm enough and it didn’t rain on us, so we had fun.  Plus, Hank had his first real trip to play on the playground.  He seemed to have a fun time, and really enjoyed crawling around and exploring.

Matt and Drew, doin’ their thing.

This little guy had a hey-day and sure does ham it up for the camera.

Cute cousins.  We miss the Steed family so much!

First swinging experience.  He was not amused.  Funny boy.

me and my buddy

Hank had his first play date a the park today, with his best buddy.

Yep, you guessed it, his oxygen tank.  It’s pretty funny, it’s like that thing is just an extension of him now.  We hardly even notice it.  (Though it seems everyone else does – oh well, get over it people!)

Holding hands.

Ahh, hugs.

No really though, we have an appointment with Hank’s pulmonologist in about 2 weeks.  He’s finally checking a room air saturation on him (looking at his numbers without oxygen on).  I’m hoping he will just switch us to night time oxygen, which would be awesome.  I may not be that lucky though, Hank definitely likes to do things on his own terms, so we will see.

mother’s day

We didn’t do too much for Mother’s Day around here.  For my mother’s day surprise, Drew sang me a special rendition of Row Row Row Your Boat which I loved.  But his other gift to me was letting me practice taking pictures of him, and he was so good.  We had fun walking to the field across the street and practicing.  What a funny poser he is.

Even though most days I feel like this.  (Stolen from a friend who posted on facebook).

Really, I am a happy Mama with two special little boys.  Happy Mother’s Day.

I tried…

My first attempt at photoshop.  Well, guess I need more practice.  The subject is really cute though.

sink or swim?

Drew started his first day of swimming lessons today.  He started the basic preschool class.  Mostly they learn to blow bubbles, float, and dunk their heads. I’m pretty sure he liked it way too much.

First things first, Drew jumped straight into the deep end and immediately sunk.  Apparently he didn’t know how to swim as well as he thought.  Don’t worry though, his teacher saved his life without even trying.  Guess this must happen a lot.

This was right after he sunk.  He told me a few times that he swallowed water then he coughed.  Yep.

While he was waiting his turn to float and blow bubbles Drew spent a majority of his time splashing.  Splashing everyone.  He really liked that.  Everyone else, not so much.

The best was splashing Mama.  I won’t be going that close again.

His teacher is a rockstar.  She has a class full of 3 year old boys.  And, none of them drowned.  Impressive.

Glad he didn’t sink.  I would really miss that face.

Don’t worry, he never gets lost.  There is a always a trail of tubing to follow.
