a day at the doctor

Hank had two appointments at Primary Children’s yesterday.  He met with his cardiologist Dr. Su (the man that saved his life) and his pulmonologist Dr. Asfour.  It made for a long day, but it’s a definite necessity. 

First stop is x-ray.  Cardiology orders an x-ray every appointment to check out Hank’s pacer leads.  They want to make sure they haven’t stretched too much and have the right placement on his heart.

 

Good news:  Everything looked great.  The pacer wire that seemed stretched from his last appointment was unchanged.  Whew. 

Next.  EKG.  How do you keep a 17 month old to hold still while having the conduction system of heart monitored you ask?  Bubbles.  Works every time (at least so far).  The worst part is taking the stickers off. 

Results are great.  No problems there. 

Then we wait for our pacemaker interrogation.  (I forgot to take pictures during the actual interrogation).  Drew helped a lot during this part.  He sang to Hank the entire time.  Trish, the EP who handles this asked if Drew would come work for her.  He did a great job. 

More good news:  Pacemaker battery will last 2.5 to 3 more years.  Heart rate was turned down to 80 from 100.  We are happy. 

Hank was a champ and is my hero.

At this time of year, Hebgen Lake starts going down over on our end.  It’s okay though, we can still take out the kayak, canoe, or paddle boat. 

I think this paddle boat needs another person to even out the ride. 

These two need to get toing somewhere fast. 

Emily and Nick used the kayak on their own. 

The dogs love it when they can get to the other side of the lake.

Tradition says while at the cabin you must go up the creek and hunt for frogs.  Don’t worry we always let them go.

On our latest trip to the cabin, we took an afternoon trip into Yellowstone.  I haven’t been since Drew was teeny tiny, so it was fun to go back again.  Leslie and Brian invited us to go with them and their great friends the Krantz’s.  Drew had a ball, and I got to practice taking pictures, though the sun was so high and bright.  It was a good learning experience. 

All the kiddos.  Poor Emily was out-numbered the whole trip.  She handled it though (obviously).

About two weeks ago, Grandpa Stones took all the cousins in town to the Cache County Fair.  Everyone had fun playing, except it was so hot.  First stop was the horses. 

Even Hank took a ride.

Matt.  He jumped really high. 

Emily.  She had the best hair while jumping. 

Drew.  He didn’t jump high and was mad if he did. 

Nick.  Did tons of flips. 

The climbing wall was the last.  Nick was the only one to make it all the way to the top.  Matt and Emily did awesome.  Drew got scared and had to come down.
